Also please tell me what activities, sororities or fraternities, and sports you're involved with--I'm trying to narrow down my college selection process.

I just graduated from a small school in Kansas with a degree in Communications. I did it in 3 years, graduated c.u.m laude, and was in a sorority (not national), a forensics honors organization, the treasurer of an international club, newspaper and yearbook editor, and involved with drama.

Best way to narrow down the college selection process:
1) Look at what you want from a college. Size? Religious beliefs? Majors offered? Cost?

2) Tour the college and even stay a night in the dorms. This is going to be your home for 4-5 years, you may as well like it.

3) Going as far away from home may seem like a great idea NOW, but in a year when you move it will stink. You'll have to pay out of state tuition and be 8+hour away from your parents when you need them most (and 99% of the students DO need their parents).

4) Look at the organizations, but don't focus on the frats and sororities (check to see if you have to live in a house if you are interested). There will be plenty of other activities. Even if you aren't in organized sports, there are intermural competitions to participate in.

5) Look at the parking--it may not seem much to you, but if you're not allowed to park in front of your dorm, walking 20 minutes with 50 pounds of stuff is going to be killer. Don't be blinded by the qualities of a college, also look at it's flaws. Can you live with walking 30 minutes to class regardless of weather? Can you live without a major town nearby?
