Ok, went to the docs today, to be told I have a virus (glands like golfballs), anyone else got the virus, as he reckons the practice docs had seen 60 patients this morning, all with the virus!
Anyone else got it or is he exagerating?

I've had it before, it's just like an airbourne virus only it attacks just those glands usualy. I'm sure your on amoxicillain or something, an antibiotic. Make you some warm tea with honey, and milk, Sip on it off and on. Also Ricola has out some throat drops called Green Tea , they're sugar fee and they help make it feel better. It's aggravating and annoying, good luck with this and I hope your feeling better tomarrow--you should be if you started antibiotics today, try the tea though.

Oh my gosh did I have it and it took 6 days to get over, hurt so bad I couldn't swallow my own spit! I will say I had a horrible fever too! My doctor gave me a through numbing gargle and it helped me so much, I could finally sleep and swallow. If you are suffering from the same thing as I did, ask your doctor to call you in a throat numbing gargle, can't remember the name, but it was a clear gel and man did it make the difference! I hope you feel better, good luck!

No, but it's a drag. Gargle with salt water 2-3 times a day, it kills the viruses by the thousands and will cut the duration of your cold by a few days. Feel better.

my son, husband, father inlaw and myself have had it, my son has still got a cough and he started with it before they broke up for school hols, if you have been given antibiotics, you will be okay in a couple of days and your glands will be like peas again, have plenty of rest and fluids!

no but i do ge throat infections really easily as 3 yrs ago i caught pnemonia now i havew to take antiobiotics most days to keep it from coming back
