is character the first preference to start a relationship,or is it looks , personality..?can a relationship get serious without marriage..does character really matter at all..

Without character, your heart will be broken. Look at actor's marriages; certainly they among the most beautiful people on earth yet they go through spiteful angry divorces all the time.
Looks gets things started, but without character you can never be sure the relationship is real.

i think looks, personality, something in common, location (live nearby, same apt. bldg, etc.) are all factors in starting a relationship w/ someone. it could be 1 thing or it could be a combination. these are the only things you have to go by really when meeting someone. why else would you be drawn to Joe Schmo that you see in the mall? why b/c you like his haircut, you love his accent, you both work at the same part time job,etc.(these are examples) these are psychological factors of building a relationship.
me, personally it would definitely have to be looks & personality.
i dont know about a relationship getting serious without marriage, but i feel like if it is serious then why not commit to that person. why not form a bond and take those sacred vows to seal the deal. to me if there is no marriage, then it's really not that serious and you all just want to play "house" or keep your options open for whatever reason.
does character matter? hmmm...do birds fly? yes, it matters. do you want to know that your siginificant other is a downright money hungry hethon and would do anything for the sake of a dollar even if it meant telling lies about you, family;

I think it is a mix of all the above. You have to be attracted to someone but it also is important who they are on the inside. There are plenty of serious relationships that don't involve marriage. However, I think marriage is needed for a lot of people in order to cement that relationship and feel that it is really serious. Character matters, after all, you wouldn't want to be involved with a mass murderer no matter how good looking he was or with someone who beat and abused you.

to start off somethng with a guy you wouldnt look twice unless you were attracted to him, next you would have a look at his persoanlity and character they both interlink. a relationship can get serious without having a marriage it depends on the type of relationship you both have and want to have as well, meaning whether you both are committed to each other and want to settle down together. Looking from a guys point of view I think it would be looks. I've been told many time by many guys that most really don't want to even get to know a girl until after they have slept with them (sad but true)
looking from a girls point of view (mine) looks is important because after all what attracted him to you?
but.. I will say with the net and all its now possible that personality (project personality that is.. which is NOT the same a REAL personallity) that is seen via chatting, emailing can lead you to say that personality is more important than looks.

I can get along with anyone, but I first look at apperance. If the personality is good then even better. If not then forget it. So If he's the hottest guy, but his character is bad. I wouldn't waste my time.
