Okay everytime I put on foundation I cannot get it to blend right and I look streaky and I want it to look natural and well-blended. Any suggestions? Also, is using a makeup sponge or your fingers better?

if it looks streaky then maybe you bought the wrong colour foundation or the wrong type. here's a clue:

oily skin--look for "matte finish"
dry skin--look for "dewy finish"
good skin--look for "light coverage"
problem skin--look for "maximum coverage"

for powder foundation always use a sponge. for liquid it is always best to use your fingers--it's more hygienic and it doesn't waste product.

the fine hairs on your face grows downwards. in order to have your foundation not go streaky, you must respect the direction of your facial hairs (i.e. apply your foundation downwards, not upwards like the way you use all the other skincare products).

to have it look even more natural, apply a bit of bronzer on your T-area, chin, and cheekbones because the sun hits these spots and they tend to be naturally a shade or two darker. then to have the "celebrity effect" without looking unnatural, invest in a good highlighter that is just a shade or two lighter than your skin. I recommend Artistry foundation & bronzer, and E. Funkhouser highlighting wand from its professional product series. If you're in N. America go to www.quixtar.com, otherwise email me and I'll find out for you.

Streaky look is caused by two things. Number one, the color is wrong. It should match your skin, being only one shade lighter.

Second, you should use your fingers, if they are smooth. If they are rough, then you need to use a sponge.

My best tip: If you use a makeup that is not a cheap brand, they smooth out better. They are specifically made to blend. Cheaper brands often streak.

I think with this combination of things, you should improve the layout of the foundation, drastically.

Make sure that you are using a moisturizer with your fountain, that will help it blend smoother. Some prefer sponge, I personally have used my fingers for 20 years and have no trouble, mine blends and smooths perfectly. Perhaps its not so much as that as the foundation itself. Try using one of the mousse foundations, those work great.

If you are a foundation rookie then seriously do not become an expert. Foundation blocks your pores, gives you tons of acne and fades after a few hours. You do really not want to pile it on your face, there are plenty of alternatives to foundation. If its because you have pale uneven complexioned skin use bronzing powder after applying moisturizer or if its to conceal spots then just use a concealer that matches your skin colour. Even a light fake tan daily to your face is better than foundation, it is very tricky to get foundation perfect without overdoing it or giving your face a 'mask-look' and blending it in too much will mean it fades quickly and just leaves blotches.
hope I helped! xx

First wet your face with a little water, then wet the sponge you use to apply the foundation. it blends much better that way. Always remember to use pressed powder after the foundation..
need any more help? let me know...

Get a Mary Kay consultant. The product is a little more expensive, but it lasts longer and the ingredients are non-addictive. I don't wear foundation because I have really clear skin, and sweat it off too fast, but I tried a tinted moisturizer, and it looked just wonderful, so I just use it for special occasions.

I'm a minimalist when it comes to makeup. It's just easier that way.

Using a make-up sponge will make it much easier to get your foundation on evenly. Also sometimes foundations are a little thick and unless you need the extra coverage you can wet the sponge slightly to make it go on smoother.

first of all make sure that you have the right foundation shade wid u. it should be one shade darker than your natural skin colour.if your skin is dry blend the foundation with two drops of oil(baby oil) and then put on dot with ur finger on your forhead, cheeks, nose and chin.then starting from your cheeks blend the foundation towards your jawline(be careful about your under eye area as it is delicate).then take the forehead and then the chin.if u got normal or oily skin mix four drops of foundation with four drops of water.loose powder foundation also works wonders and is easier with the brush.

I had the same problem, I was doing 2 things wrong.
#1. I was using cheap makeup. lip gloss and eye shadow and the rest of that crap is ok to by for cheap, its mostly the same. anything what goes on such large area (ie: your face) should be high quality ( I use mac now, they will match it for you before you buy).
#2. I was usuing liquid foundation. Now i use concealer for any pimples or things like that i dont like, and powder to even out skin tone. then it doesnt look painted on.
