I am an recoverying anorexic. I am starting to binge, mostly sweets, so I know in away I'm punishing myself, plus need a drink everynight. I am getting myself on a merry-go-round and its harder and harder to get off! I am on antidepressants plus sleeping pills. My life now is all what I ever wanted it to be and with the person I adore. My kids have grown and only have 2 of the 5 still at home and the youngest is 17. I know I can't carry on forever like this and want to help myself before I go off the deep end, how?

Thank you for all your wonderful messages. I wish I could work out what is so deeply hidden inside, I think maybe I'm too afraid of what I may find! Just to add; I was with the love of my life when I was 14 for 3 years and then we split over a misunderstanding plus he lived 60 miles away. I then got married a year later, I had 5 wonderful kids that I am very proud of. I divorced my ex after 25years of marriage on the grounds of mental cruelity, he still tries through the kids, etc to get to me as he says he still loves me. I am now back with the love of my life, unfortunately he is married with two kids, I didnt want to take him away from his family, but he said he had always felt the same for me so after several months of just seeing each other once a month our love grew once again, we have been living together now for two and half years. We have been through hell with the families but our love has seen us through. I have a decent job, plus studying. So why cant I just be happy

You need to see a specialist, they will be able to help you. Sounds like you have deep rooted problems that even you maybe not aware of. You need to break this downward spiral and someone with the necessary training will help you break it. Best wishes.

I don't know much about anorexia, but I do know about addiction and I think anorexia is an addiction. I am a recovering addict and the things I do to stay clean are, go to meetings, work the 12 steps, call my sponsor, help other addicts stay clean, read NA literature. Don't they have some meetings for anorexia or therapy? Maybe you should join a support group or something? This is something that a professional would need to help you with or people that have the same problem.

What professional help have you had? You still need it! It takes time.....don't give up! Its hard to talk about things that may have been buried for so long but don't be afraid too. Only you can do this. If you can't be honest with yourself how on earth can anyone help or even begin to help yourself......Take care x

Honestly, it's times like this that it's imperative that we have some sort of spiritual basis. Do you have any sort of spirituality in your life? If not, I'd recommend Buddhism... just because Buddhism is about finding balance in your life. As a practicing Buddhist, I've found it to help me find focus, clarity, balance, and purpose in my life.. as well as a sense of hope. IM me if you would like more details.

The truth is that you cannot help yourself. Only God can help. You have to let Him work in your life. I would like to talk with you. IM me and let me know if you would like to talk about this. I have been through a similar experience (drinking). I hope to hear from you.

At least you recognize there's something wrong, you need to get to the root of the problem, speak to your doctor, ask him to refer you to a counsellor.
