It's not at first sight as some seem to believe. It is putting different physical, verbal , and psychological cues together over time.
It is even more difficult to figure out a bisexual male, unless he is out and there are relatively few of them. Still, especially if one becomes good friends with the guy, sooner-or-later, his "firewall" is let down. He might even indirectly hint at his true orientation but rarely just come out and say it. I doubt very much that even a gay male can pick up on a bisexual right away. Once again, this comes in the friendship realm, where you are around the guy for a long time in a variety of places where he feels safe. Sooner or later, it becomes extremely apparent that the guy is not totally straight. Sometimes there are verbal "slips." Sometimes there is almost uncontrollable behavior the guy has at times like staring at males, etc.
Gaydar and bi-dar are not really 6th senses. They are just non-straights' ability to pick up on verbal, physical, and psychological cues about someones orientation in a very sensitive and intense manner. Non-straights have a much keener sense of someones orientation in general than a straight person.

This is one of the everlasting myths about gaydar..
I tell you , gaydar is functional even for straight people ..
it's easy to point out a very very very GAY (and I mean total
stereotype) on the street .. that does'nt mean that gay people have super powers.. hell I really have no GAYDAR
you'd be surprised to see who can be gay and not look like it..

I don't really care about the sexuality of random strangers I see, so I don't put much thought into it.
I was just joking around with my friend and he could tell that I was gay! It's scary the people who guess right away, lol.

My gaydar has proven pretty good in the past if that's what you mean. I jam up most peoples' though, unless they are really really good.
