Do chat rooms do more harm than good?

Depends on WHAT chatroom and how old the person is. MANY of the chatrooms have older (perverted) guys trying to pick up underage girls for (*gasp*) sex.

The person in the chatroom must understand NEVER EVER give out personal data, agree to meet anyone off the chat room (unless accompanied by a group of friends in a very public place), and most imp. never send pics of themselves in compromising situations.

But above all, have some common sense. Many ppl today have no common sense.

It really depends on the chat room you are in. Most are people looking for sex , so I would go with more harm overall.

Depends on which chatrooms.

I think they do a lot of good. It depends on the person who goes in, and how they respond to the people that are in the chatroom. Unfortunately, they also do a lot of bad because of all the horrible people you can encounter on the internet.

It just depends on how you react to people. Personally I prefer MSN where you basically know most of the people you're talking to, in some way or another. Other chatrooms are just too congested (sp?) for my liking.
