What are the best public gardens to see in and around San Diego?

I like the gardens at Balboa Park best. Balboa Park has more than 8 gardens, including the Alcazar Garden, rose garden, Japanese Friendship Garden, desert garden, and botanical building (houses indoor garden) with lily pond outside. Here's a link to the Balboa Park webpage with gardens:

I like Balboa Park because there's just so much variety. You can see so many gardens in one place, and then if you feel like doing something else, there are tons of museums in the park too. Quail Gardens in Encinitas is nice too, but a bit smaller and not really close to any other attractions like the Balboa Park Gardens are.
