No 18 year old needs to have the money that they are given to go pro, not including the signing bonus'. I think an athlete should have to attend 4 full years of college, or wait the time it would take to complete the 4 years of a college degree, and then they can go pro if they wish. They need the experience, and the time to mature. They need the education to fall back on so if they are injured they are not left a has been athlete with no education. They need to be able to see if their agent is dealing them a good deal, they need to be able to see if their accountant is playing with their money they way that they shouldn't, they need to be able to make sure their money is working for them and not someone else, they need to know that the decisions that they are making are good ones for them. They need to be able to decide things for themselves and not have to rely on what someone else is telling them because they don't know enough for themselves to make the decisions.

If a minimum age limit is not placed on people to become professional athletes, then we will have 15 year olds dropping out of school cause they have been promised a pro contract. These are not people capable of making sound life decisions, and unfortunately some of the parents of these "pro-athlete prospects" see only dollar signs when speaking of their child and don't always have the best in sight for their child.
