how about Bullies, how does someone become a bully. Is it the parents, did they do something wrong in raising that child, or is it the friends that he/she hangs out with. (peer pressure). Bullies can do serious mental and physical damage to a child in school and almost everyone has been picked on or has pick on someone. Anyone can relate to that.

I dont have specific things but just some topics that you can elaborate on or find an argument for.
Something with music, maybe.
Lyrics and melodies causing certain behavior or lifestyles.
If you want to go the parenting route...
Attachment parenting vs. regular. The co sleeping and the 'crying out theory' for babies.
Effects on spanking vs. non physical punishment
Adoption
Single Parents
Drug/Alcohol abuse
Drunk drivers
Relationships...
Why people cheat, benefits/disadvantages of polygamy
Something about homosexuality/bisexuality
Pattern of abusive relationships
Something in Education
Maybe about homeschooling, public/private schools, all girl/boy
Animal rights, slaughterhouses, bullfighting, any PETA issue
Misuse of welfare and other state/government benefits
I'll quit here before I become obsessed lol But good luck. Maybe pick something that you're not familiar with, that way you can learn while you write.

You can do a paper on standardized testing (like ACT's SAT's and some states require those little "fill in the bubble" tests to graduate) You can base your arguement on "Do these tests really prepare students with critical thinking skills, and other skills necessary for the real world. or do teachers only teach what is necessary to "pass a test"? Are these tests really a true indication of a student's intelligence and thinking skills. Do these tests really teach students to "think" or to "pass a test"? Anyone can study for a test, but how much do you actually LEARN?

How about the argument that you shouldn't have to write but only one paper, after all, once you write one, haven't you demonstrated the fact that you can perform the assigned task? Be objective in the first paragraph, and then argue, argue, argue. Argue for all you are worth!
Have fun with it!
