Wow, it's amazing how few people grasp history or even fairly simple words like "fascism".
The founding fathers were VERY liberal for their time. Liberalism, by definition, is being open to new ideas. Conservatism is drawing on ideas from the past. (English lesson not for you, good doctor, but for the many who don't grasp the concepts).
I wouldn't say neocons are the British, but the Torries (British sympathizers). Content with the status quo, they were unwilling to see how life could be better without Britain in control. Fearful of change, they fought against their own countrymen on the side of oppression, excessive taxation, and against freedom.
Most, after the war, moved to British North America - either Quebec or Nova Scotia. We can only hope...

I am liberal, support free markets, free trade, smaller government, and the right to bear arms. I guess I'm not a "liberal of today".
I can't seem to find the " ending tyranny and liberating other countries" part in the Constitution. Maybe you can point it out to me? The "secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity" refers to We the People of the United States, not the world.

Ah the good Dr, has come up with a great question yet one more day. I wouldn't think that they would call people that wanted to form their own country to get away from a oppressive government conservative. I would think that they would be called liberal. I think that the person that was the first president for the repuglican party would be called a liberal also as he wanted to change 100 + years of slavery. Good Ol' Abe would disown this repuglican party and denounce all repuke's for what they have done to their party, I would think.

Don't get confused with the classical liberals of our founding fathers with the new-age left-wing liberals of today, two different things. Even classical liberals(ideas I support)are somewhat opposed to the ideas of the neo(or social) liberalism.
When is the last time a liberal today support the free market and less government?
Guess what? Those are the ideas of the classical liberals(today's libertarians).
Here, I find it. See this and you know what I'm taking about:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Classical_liberalism
When is the last time a liberal of today support the right to bare arms?
Guess what, our founding fathers supported that too. How did I know this? It's the second damn Amendment.
When is the last time a liberal of today supports ending tyranny and liberating other countries.?
Well, well, guess what, they strongly believed in that too. They believed that not only we use our power to eliminated oppression in our own country but liberate others from tranny and oppression which we've been doing for a century. I believe in that too!

In reality, Conservatives are defending the principles of the Founding Fathers (though not as well these days) against Leftists who embrace the feudal system of the British Empire. It is the very meaning of the word 'conservative' - one who adheres to the original, while 'progressives' discard the foundations and constantly strive to change things to their favor.
The ideas of the Revolution were classic Liberal and, once set down as our founding principles, have been defended by those called Conservative (resisting wanton change).
Leftists are NOT liberals. They only cloak themselves in that name as a disguise. It is the Left that defines the Constitution as a 'living, breathing document'. And that strives to disarm The People to further subjugate them. Never forget that. The first shots of the Revolutionary War were fired because the British tried to take away the guns of the Militia.
Leftists strive to create oppressive government control over all aspects of life, especially over one's property. If you read the list of 'abuses' in the Declaration of Independence, you will see the leftist ideology against which this nation has struggled.

Why does everyone believe that to be a free thinker you must be a liberal. And your comparison doesn't makes sense- because both liberal and conservatives are still americans but they see how it should be run in a different way.

EXACT opposite.
Democrats are not free thinkers...
They were forced into 'civilrights act' while previoulsy being bigots & KKK leaders.
They often are mob-thinkers, without any real individualism.
Facism is really another name for democrats.

Super SheRazz doesnt know history. The first thing the liberal Democrats of Massachusetts did was turn the British around at the Boston Tea Party.
The conservative loyalists supported King George's ludicrous intrusions.
"Those who not learn from history are doomed to repeat it".
And repeat it it does!
