Can you drink cider? If you are 4 weeks late then you should be due for a period soon anyway. See if you can get a can of cider down you over the next couple days (Merrydown is best for this, in which case no more than 500ml). I've got a feeling it is something in the mineral content or whatever- it gets my cycle back on track if it's having a lazy. Also grilled kidneys are good.
If you are nauseaous (how do u spell that!) u could be preggers, but that doesn't explain the stomach cramps.

If you went to the doc today, phone up and ask for another appointment, but book it for in a few days time - ie thurs/fri. You have little peace of mind that you have an appointment to work towards - which might take your mind off it slightly - which in itself might bring your period on.
Stress, anxiety and worrying can affect your period. If your on the pill and its not arrived then your doc should be testing you I should think. If your not, you need to bare in mind that the body is a strange thing - and it might just be that for one reason or another you didn't ovulate this month. If it happens again then your doctor will do tests.
If I were you - book another appointment now for friday, then if its still not come along you can see your doctor, just express that your very concerned and are there any tests he can do to put your mind at rest. and see what advice he gives from there.

You state that this doctor is the only one at your surgery. I'm not sure what area you are from or if you only have that one option.
If there is any way that you can see a doctor somewhere else, you should be examined again. This problem could be any number of things, including an ectopic pregnancy. Your "feeling sick", stomach cramps, and your period being four weeks late concerns me.

1st get another Dr. What do you mean he's the only one at your surgery. What's that?
It could be stress or any other medical condition, but to tell you to wait 6 months to find out is just crazy.
You need to go to your local pregnancy clinic/center. There everywhere. They can give you another test just to make sure. They also offer advice on what may be taking place with you if your not.
Good Luck

Sorry to hear that you are having these problems with your doctor. I have been late a few times before and I know how troubling it can be. My cure for myself was to take some iron- turns out I was anemic. Can you go to the emergency room or something and tell them your situation? Or is there a health line number to call where you are where you can ask nurses questions? I hear a lot of people recommending wedMD. Good luck to you.

Your missed period could be caused by stress, a change in eating habits. It could be too early to determine an illness.. Your doctor might not be too concerned since some women naturally menstruate every 8-10 weeks.
