There are many reasons you could have fainted. It is true the the symptoms you experienced are the prelude to fainting which I know from professional and personal experience. Most people become light headed, experience nausea and have temporary blindness. Also you will be unstable and wobbly. The best thing to do is to squat immediately and lower your head. By lowering yourself your blood must not fight gravity within your body to circulate and can reach your brain better resolving your symptoms. The reason your circulation could not function as it usually does can be from the most common reason is low blood sugar which results from not eating and burning of calories. Since you did not eat and were walking around the mall you're body couldn't circulate your blood.
