Well, as a former car salesWOman...who still works at the dealership(just not in sales) I can tell you its actually based on each individual dealership and the type of pay plan the provide. Some car salesman work on comission only, meaning that the only get paid for selling a car, so they get a percentage of the PROFIT of the sale....NOT for the COST of the vehicle. Or they could work on a salary/commission based...where you get a set salary per month, and then you have to sell a minimum of cars before you start making a profit on the cars you sell...so for example...you get an automatic 1k per month, then you have to sell a minimum of 6 cars, then on your 7th car you get paid a certain amount, then its on a tierd level, so you get paid the same for cars no. 7 and 8, then more for 8 and 9, so on and so forth. Which I think is the best way!

They will usually also take a draw if you have a salary/comission plan, which is okay...as long as you're selling cars!

Hope that helped!

Oh and...hopefully you're not interested in selling Ford or GM models bc you WILL have a hard time making moolah, as those brands are seriously down in sales!

18% of the final price they sell the car.

Plus the services they made to the cars ( This is the real profit for any car dealers agencies ).
