Are you kidding? General Relativity is one of those theories that comes every 1000 years in human history, because it is so elegant and comprehensive. Only a stroke of genius can be responsible for its discovery and development. Currently, General Relativity is the most explanatory theory we have on Gravity. Of course, physicists are working on an even more comprehensive theory, one that can integrate Quantum Theory with General Relativity. But that's still work-in-progress.
