Hi. I just want to ask if something is normal. Every time I get my period on the first day there is barely any blood except for when I wipe with toilet paper, and the blood is not red it's a darkish brown. I can't find any info on this and I just want to know what can cause it and if it's normal....I also have PCOS and I wonder if it may be from that.
Thanks

Yes this is normal. Sometimes the first day of bleeding is very light and the blood is dark brown, which just means the blood has been exposed to oxygen or is older. The second day of your period should usually be the heaviest, or you should at least have more flow and the color of the discharge should be redder.

I also have PCOS and the same problem. My Ob/Gyn said it's old blood and very normal. So you can relax.

As someone else said, the brown blood is old blood. I wouldn't worry.

Mine is like that too. I never thought that it might be abnormal. I always thought that this was the "residue" from last month's, being sort of like "flushed out of the system". I am interested in the answers that you will receive.

My period is like that too. It's just the way some of our systems are made. But if you want to ease your mind, see your doctor.
