Why has this happened to the world? I look through blogs and blogrings on Xanga, Myspace, and other sites just searching to find someone I might know, trying to possibly even be found. Yet... reading through all the profiles... I've noticed something. Everyone's become a carbon copy of eachother. "I'm in pain and you'll never know why" has begun translating in to "I have nothing better to do but try to stuff myself into a clique". I'm not saying that not everyone can feel pain, but my God, do they have to let complete strangers know? I can't save them, nor can any "fallen angel" they think they can find. Everything has to be dark, blacks, reds, grays... what happened to the colors that actually pleased their minds or brought them peace? Would they throw it all away just to be considered "Gothic", "Punk", or "Emo"? Is it even worth it? Why? What is the point in torturing yourself just so you'll fit in with "friends"? My friends were bright, peppy, loved pink and yellow (more in details)

adored the luxuries in life, were able to please and comfort themselves. And I was happy with them for the most part. I'm not quite as "dark" of a person that I seem. But now we have people "going goth", listening to music they hate but pretend to love just so they can fit in, wearing all black, and worst of all, adorning and forever scarring themselves in tattoos and piercings just to look the part. What ever happened to lick and stick tattoos and clip on-earrings? Aren't they easier? I mean sure there are people in the world with real pain and are comforted by darker things and thoughts, but there are also alot that just aren't. I see this and my thoughts just keep spinning, because I can tell this person is not in enough pain to throw their lives away, they just wish they were because it would make them more "gothic/punk/emo". What happened? (I'm 13 by the way)

Short answer : they're teenagers. Long answer: most of the traditionally "cool" teenagers are not the ones who spend a great deal of on the computer. So you're left with many kids who feel alienated. Although all teens want to assert their individuality, they also want to belong. They call themselves goth, punk, and emo, to fit into what they see as a kindred group. All of those groups stress the aforementioned alienation, adding to their own. So teens are saying they're in pain because they are to some extent, and also because they think it's cool to be in pain and misunderstood. Good for you for just being yourself.

Sin. I understand what you're saying, people arent really themselves anymore. I've been able to kind of "stay away" from the whole "click" scene because I'm homeschooled, but I still feel the affects of it from my public schooled friends. If you'd like a friend that's not going to try to fit in, but just be herself, you can contact me through my website: home.earthlink.net/~muffinisme Good luck with your friends!

Don't you have some homework to do? Perhaps if you got a life that involved conversing with real people instead of hunting through blogs you would still have real friends (note: you said "My friends WERE bright, peppy...")

Your question reads like a very bad poem...
