Get her one of those siren things that are like a big marker pen.
Buy her some self defence classes too, they'll help her more than a siren.
In fact, see if you can get some 'flash-bangs'. They're the 'blank' grenades the army use on exercise. Set one or two of those off and it should scare anyone away, or at least get the police there bloody quick!!!

it has to be said pepper spray!!yes i know it illegal but i live in a slightly dodgy town and when on a trip to france i purchaced two cans of police pepper spray for mother and mrs!!there was a couple of car jackings and always muggings going on! just thrw it in the boot!the customs cheaked and did not find!!!tbh i would rather risk the police kicking off than a nutter in a dark ally!wot the feds gonna do arrest a single women walking along minding her own!

Mace. You can buy a small spray container that she can carry in her pocket where she can easiely get at it. She shouldn't carry it in her pocketbook because it takes longer to get at it unless she know exactly where it is at.
You can get Mace at a gunshop.
Also you can go online and find it.

Any marketed product that emits a loud screeching noise. Pepper spray as a last resort. I understand that it is illegal in many places, but I wouldn't let that stop me.
