I use ours to make soup (which ends up looking a bit like babyfood anyway!).
I don't let the liquid residue dry out, I put the head of the blender in a mug with a little washing up liquid and enough water to cover the head only, and give it a few buzzes. Then I unplug the blender and hold the head under the tap to wash off the soap and any crumbs of food still sticking to it.
Seems to work.
If you're worried about sterility, I suppose you could soak/buzz the blender in a weak disinfection solution once a week or so, and then rinse it. But if the babyfood ingredients are cooked properly in the first place, there shouldn't be any nasty bugs in the food when you puree it (and there are very few nasty bugs on vegetables to begin with).

I don't want to believe your husband is trying to kill you but I wouldn't give him points for washing up advice! My hand blender can't be immersed in water because it has slits where I can clearly see the insulated wires. I usually have a small bowl of warm sudsy water sitting by and I plunge the blades into it and turn the beater on. It gets most of the goop off. I use a bottle brush if it doesn't. I just use a damp cloth on the exterior body.

I leave mine in a cup of hot water with disinfectant over night then run it under the tap and all the gunk falls off, follow with a proper clean and Bob's your uncle - clean.
Suggest to your husband that your not sure what he means and can be show you! Best to keep your self safe! lol

Theoretically you should be able to put the head in water and turn it on as it turns things into liquid anyway so the seals must be water tight. I'd go with your husbands suggestion.

First, they are plenty greater sanitary than the old form revolving fabric towels of the old days. The machines in all probability do have filters, and possibilities are high the air is actual drawn from a circulate slowly-area in the wall, no longer from the restroom itself. ultimately, they are plenty greater sparkling for our surroundings because of the fact they are utilising cleanser electrical energy, they do no longer cut back down wood and that they do no longer fill landfills with semi-used paper towels. that's what they mean by using "sparkling." i do no longer individually LIKE them, yet I do see the argument FOR them.
