I am a very sensitive person. I cry easily at my own pain and others' pain too. Is this my strength or my weakness?

being sensitive can b a good and a bad thing. it shows that u r empathic to other peoples feelings. many people actually dont even kno what that means and they dont have it. i believe that we all have it a bit, some more than others.

i think its a good thing and a definate strength. u will b able to get more in tune with the people that ur talking to and they will b able to trust u more and want to come to u to share what is going on. weather good or bad news.

i think its also bad if a person uses it as a reason to get what they want (eg. a kid throwing a temper tantrum) we all tend to do that even as we grow up however once we reach a certain age no one really pays any attention to it.

my belief is that ur being sensitive is a very big strength, and i wish more people in the world were like that. we need more people like that. :)

I think it's a kind of weakness because i too am very sensitive and got upset every now and then. Anybody suffers i too suffer with them if i am somewhere near but i know when any such situation will occur when i will have to see some accident than instead of helping i will faint down so it's not a strength it's a weakness. But in a way a sensitive person is a person who understands the pain and sufferings of others very well.

It can be both an asset and a liability. If seeing the pain of other people causes you to reflect upon your own pain, then it is a weakness. If this is the case, I would respectfully suggest that you are overly sensitive and ought to see a counselor.
A career for you in the helping professions is probably not an option, even though you are a caring person.

and, somewhat disrespectfully as well as to point out the other extreme, you would be a total failure as a biker queen in the Hell's Angels. I would like you better just as you are.

it can be a strength if you want to go into the health care field since the patients will appreciate your empathy. However it can be a weakness as percieved by others around you...but if you don't care what other's think of you (which is the way to go) then you're all set...it's better to be too sensitive than not sensitive enough.

Strength. You have te ability to relate to others. You'll make a good mother and a good listener, as well as doctor, teacher, etc...

Maybe crying alot could disadvantage you because others will not understand. But overall the idea of being sensitive is good. Not too many people are these days.

It's both. Being a sensitive person causes you to be a good person (thoughtful, respectful, and kind) and a great friend, but being sensitive can also cause you a lot of pain (by taking on other's pain as your own). I am the same way, I blame it on being a Pisces.

I believe sensitivity is a strength, you get more clues and information if you are sensitive. Inaction in addressing pain is a weakness.
Keep in mind, no amount of your suffering will alleviate the suffering of others. Positive action works.

Sensitivity, a state of illusion to the observer but real to the person experiencing it.

Is sensitivity strength when pain is self inflicted, contrary to rules of self preservation; is it weakness when used to perceive salient points others are quick to dismiss.

That can only be answered based on predefined terms of strenght, weakness, success, lack of achievement.

It depends. I don't see it as a sign of weakness because you can be sensitive when it comes to your feelings and others. That's being compassionate.
However, people can be overly sensitive in the sense that they take everything to heart and get all torn up over nothing.

It can be both, but if you're way too sensitive then you need to toughen up since after all life is tough. Also you can't take the pain of others unto yourself. You can feel compassion and sympathy but don't take on the pain of others. Otherwise you might go crazy.
