As long as you are not into your third tri-mester by then, and have had no complications in your pregnancy - you should be cleared by your doctor to travel.
My brother lived in Cairo for 18 months - and you are correct about the cleanliness issue compared to other cities around the world. Only drink purified bottled water during your visit. Your doctor will provide you with a list of foods to avoid. Also be aware that public toilets may not be very clean, either. Keep a supply of hygienic wipes handy for quick hand cleaning - and do so often.
Do some research before you go on the culture. This will better prepare you for your trip.

It will be quite safe for you to travel. Air travel is not recommended in the last 3 months, however. Try to stand up during the flight for a few minutes and consume enough fluids.
In Egypt, drink only bottled water and eat at a reputable restaurant. Do not buy food on the streets!!!! The climate will be very nice. Wear loose clothing and enjoy the trip. Take lots of pictures to show the child that he/she was there in his mommy's tummy. If it is a boy, give him my name!!!!!!!!!!

Talk to your doctor.
Travelling in the second Trimester is fine... but it really depends on the country. *If* your doctor recommends vaccines and shots before travelling, then you may want to reconsider, or ask him about the effects of these vaccines while being pregnant.
Hygiene shouldn't be your biggest concern, so much as viruses... and even then, Egypt is a very civilized place... you should be just fine.

Well now If it was because you were moving or another really important reason to trtavel OUT of the country while pregnant I would say ok ,..go
But for a vacation .. I would not do it
Especially at 5 mos. That is a critical time... Premature delivery at that stage is not good .
You also need to consider safety and vaccinations...
I just would not do it.
Good Luck

Traveling abroad is never easy and as far as being hygienic you might as well forget it. You have to keep your self from accepting the way that they live, and remember that you are civilized. I wish you luck and enjoy your trip I know that you will. Best wishes.

Consult your doctor. My husband thought he was going to go to China while I was pregnant with our oldest daughter and my doctor advised him to be vaccinated against various diseases so he wouldn't bring anything home to me. Your doctor may advise against the trip or he may just give you certain precautions to follow. Egypt is a dream vacation for me, I'd love to go, but I don't know if I would do it pregnant.

You need to consult your OB and your insurance company. Some insurance company don't want pregnant women on the plane in the 3rd trimester. Also, the plane ride dehyrdates people, so you'd need extra fluid intake.

I don't see a problem. You can do anything while pregnant that you would otherwise do. Use common sense - don't drink (or brush your teeth with) tap water, don't eat street food.
