Recently, I had a new neighbor move in next door to me. I'm not prejudiced or anything, but my new neighbor is a little person who's about 3 feet tall.
So, I saw him tending to his garden the other day, and I went out and introduced myself to welcome him to the neighborhood.
I wanted to make him feel comfortable so I asked him about himself. I asked him about his job and then I asked him if he was good at gardening because he was a Gnome -- (or a Gnome-American), and if it was a tradition that had been past down to him.
I think I may have offended him, so now I'm wondering why ... I'm not sure if he's ashamed of his heritage and doesn't like to talk about it. I'd like to ask him more questions, like about when they wear the red hats. Are you not supposed to ask little people about their ancestors (I'm pretty sure they're descended from gnomes). I don't know why they wouldn't want to talk about it -- I'm Irish-American and like to talk about Irish food and drink if asked.

You know what is the worst thing for a handicaped person?
When people look at him and then look away as if it is normall, he feels it and he feels bad.
So back to your story, despite the guy is not handicaped or anything, you only said something that both of you know, so, he will be a stupid neighboor if he got upset about it.
You only said something normall, that's it
U seem like a good person!!!
hmm, u know..
I always think that a good person is a good person despite what he says or mistakes he does!! chill out!

You are predijuice if you think that all little people are gnomes. The reason that they are so short is because of a genetic defect that they have or because of an illness in some cases. Yes you were wrong for even going over there and saying anything about him being a gnome. You wonder why he doesn't want to speak to you, how rude can you get?

That was really rude. Of course you offended him. He is not a gnome. He is a human just like you and me. And don't treat little people like they are their own race. He probably thought you were making fun of him. A gnome is a garden decoration not an actual living thing. Do you believe in fairies and unicorns too?

A gnome? Well, of course he would be offended(even if you were not intentionally being prejudiced. That's how people are.

That was totally and completely rude, as well as you should already know. I have a friend who is 4'1", she's is one of the tallest ppl in spirit that I know. Just because they are shorter than average ppl, doesn't make them feel any different. I'd like to see that man put you in your place and maybe that would show you just how "small" he is.

You may have offended him because he might not be a gnome. Its possible he may just be retarted, or even an alcoholic who's destroyed his growth hormones. If he has downs syndrome he wont be offended, but if he really is a gnome, watch out. He'll start stealing things from you. Really, whether or not he's offended doesn't really matter, you just need to watch your stuff, in case he gets a bad case of grabby fingers.

What if he's not a gnome? He could be fairy folk or maybe a dwarf. Or maybe he had heavy books placed on his head when he was little.

i think you might have offended him if he is an elf. to my knowledge little people come from two different clans, "the elf" and "the gnome". the elf and gnome clans have been enemies since 1700 a.d. that might help you a little.

before everything, "Ho" is in all risk a nasty place to initiate. She ought to be a prostitute (yup, they are able to declare 3 syllable words too!). Why do not you attempt inviting her out on a date? possibly you will get the place you prefer to bypass without breaking the regulation! I promise you: If she's on the activity, she'll inform you.
