Morocco applied for membership in 1987 and was rejected, partially for not being part of Europe (also for political reasons) Israel has suggested over the years it wants to join the EU but with its present borders it won't be accepted. By 2025 the EU expects Turkey, the remaining former Yugoslav Republics and Albania to join so that leaves the former Soviet republics (Ukraine, Moldova and Belarus) and Russia herself. Moldova seems unlikely to join until it resolves its border disputes with Romania, Belarus is undemocratic and therefore can't join (and doesn't want to) so the Ukraine seems the most likely but there is underlying tension between the Ukrainians and the ethnic Russians, and it would make Russia very uneasy. In theory if Russia joins the EU, which is very unlikely, its borders could reach the Pacific but the political realities mean that after Turkey joins the EU has reached the limits of its borders.
Of course don't forget that Norway and Switzerland were approved membership but both rejected the option of joining, and Greenland when granted home rule from Denmark in 1980 also opted out of the EU. Iceland, like Norway are concerned about losing their fishing rights have also declined to join.

Well, I live in a country that is about to be accepted, Romania. And I think it is a good thing, it will help us find better jobs, it will help our economy and it will tie the bonds between us and the rest of the continent. I don't think the EU will take Morrocco or Tunisia, since they are on the African continent. The former Asian countries were only Asian because of past regimes. There is a difference. Why would the amount of coutries be limited? I think all countries in Europe should join, the ones that wish so, at least.

When the EU started, the aim was to formed a united Europe. They had a view that the whole Europe would be one, and all European countries would be part. So the EU will stop expanding when all the European countries are members.
The Euro is stronger than the US$, and this scares Americans. Europe will be the strongest one day.

It will and should continue to expand the benefits of free trade and a reasonably level playing field when doing that trade are enormous.
Most of the countries that are in The EU have been at war with each other for centuries it now seems impossible that England would go to war with France or Germany for example.
The quicker the countries you mention join and we feel the same way the better.
As long as the standards for good governence are adhered to by joining members.

considering that the EU is currently in fear of collapse, i dont think that it will be expanding for too much longer. if it cant cope at the moment then it wont be long before countries are refused membership in order to try and save the god-for-saken EU. the uk should get out while we can.
