Televison wise, it's a large city.
As far as Movies, it's quite small. New York is too contricting and expencive to make a Major motion picture, and some will even say that New York City doesn't have the urban metropolitan look of a major city, unless sites needed such as Time Squere or A certain building or landscape shot.
Chicago is the second hollywood and the orginal first, this is the city LA goes to for outside west coast filming. Chicago is cheaper, more urban, open to a wider range of movies and venues, and has a movie history which makes it a natral second choice.
New York also has it's own venue, being the home of Broadway, New York City is home to live theater and the stage. It's hard to have two major venues in one city, Chicago is the second home of Film, Theater, and the major home of Music.

There are a lot of independent films and international films being produce here in New York City that even Hollywood can not compare.

i'd say Toronto (as a community) is greater like NYC (as a community), than la (as a community). First, each and each are the financial hub of their respective international places, with the economic industries and huge-unfold inventory exchanges. 2d, the Ethnic variety of Toronto and NYC are greater noticeably noticable than in la. Toronto has greater classic ecu shape as NYC does. the massive area of la's classic shape is Spanish Colonial stimulated. Toronto and NYC have properly widely used theater districts. i would not understand of la's. Toronto is widely was once greater "arty". television networks run out of YC ordinarily, as do the English Canadian networks. although, like la, Toronto has a smaller downtown center, with the rest unfolded to the burbs.
