Although the Pope does not speak for all Christians, and has apologized for what some might consider insensitive remarks, have the Islamic militants again gone off the deep end and are using any excuse to "declare war" against Christianity?

jsimpkins, don't be an apologist for the Islamic militants. There are enough of those already in our country.

Overreacted, yes. Were they wrong to react, no. There is no reason I can fathom for the pope to quote a 14th century emperor's derrogitory comments about Islam. By quoting them the way he did, he showing support for these statements.

Free speech is all well and good, but you can't go up to a person and curse them out without expecting (and deserving) a response. In the same way, public figures cannot go out and insult an entire group of people (many millions strong) and expect no repsonse.

The Muslims who burnt churches and killed the nun simply undescored the truth of what the pope said which is just as true today as it was all those centuries ago. They were not overreacting, that is just how they react normally - with indiscriminate violence. The pope is right. I am an agnostic but I completely support the pope on this. Islam is a nonsensical and violent religion, I don't even understand why it still exists.

I think that some Muslims reacted accordingly to Pope Benedict XVI's somewhat incredibly stupid comments on Islam and violence. If the Pope didn't want to be quoted as having said these sorts of things, then maybe he should try thinking before he decides to open his mouth.

Why should the Pope apologize for speaking the truth?

The Christian God, as revealed by Christ, is a god of love. Christ directed his apostles to turn the other cheek, and love your neighbor.

Allah the moslem god is evil! He directs his followers through the prophet mohamed to spread islam by jihad or holy war. The duty of each moslem is to kill or convert the infidel.
This is not a religion of peace.

Allah is not the Christian God of love!
Allah is not god at all!

So if allah is not god or a part of god or a product of god what is he? Allah is a an imposter of God otherwise known as Satan!

The would have over-react regardless of what the pope said about Islam. If had said something nice, they would have had a problem with that too...

Maybe the Pope should not have said what he did, but burning churches and killing nuns is a certainly an over reaction to saying they are violent.

They are ready to kill 24-7. Peaceful religion I think not. They kill a nun how brave is that. Imagine if every one killed someone when they said something bad about them, Well Muslims do it for real savages.

If Islam is a religion of peace, why when someone speaks agianst mohammed, they want to kill them. Is there no tolerance in Islam. If I don't believe in their prophet, I must DIE?????

Why are they allowed to speak against Christianity if no one is allowed to speak against them?
