While the term 'lizard' refers to the quadriped (except glass lizards) animals of the order Reptilia most closely related to snakes, iguana refers to a small, specific genus of somewhat large, mostly tropical lizards characterized by their large "beards" and dorsal spines. Also, lizards are not to be confused with crocodilians, which are entirely different.

Well, lizard is a generic term for all lizards, and an iguana is a specific kind of lizard.

I think an iguana is a lizard. There are all kinds of lizards with different names. Gecko is another one. There are more, I'm just sitting at home sick and can't think as well as usual right now or I'd give you more examples. (-:

An iguana is a lizard, but not all lizards are iguana's. 36, USA, Minneapolis (size has nothing to do with it. Komoto dragons are the largest living lizards, gecko's are fairly small lizards, Iguana's are in between)

I think the difference is that lizards are a group and Iguana is one particular species of that group. For instance, the difference between dog and poodle.

a lizard is large group name for reptiles besides snakes an iguana is a lizard just a more specific one, a lizard can be like others have said a komodo dragon, iguana, monitor, gecko stuff like that

There is no difference. An iguana is merely a species (or group of species, if you count rhino iguanas etc...) of lizard. Plain as that. (20, Illinois, USA)
