You would waste that man's talent on a video game movie? Jackson's talents lie in either epics, or splatter flicks. Straight up action isn't his thing. I'll be honest, I don't much care for Halo, or action movies in general, but I think a much better choice would be James Cameron. Take a look a what he's done in the sci-fi / action genre:
Dark Angel (TV)
Terminator 2
Terminator
Aliens
Each of these were well directed, and had a decent showing at the box office (exception of Dark Angel, which was only liked by me.)

I think that he would do an incredible job with it, but at the same time I cant help but think that the movie may be bad because it was a game first. Still it might work out, and if it does then you can be sure that the Halo game series will have more fans, so I really hope that it works.
