If you are breast feeding your baby that will help you loose those extra pounds more quickly. However, you will need to allow about five extra pounds over your normal weight for milk production.

If you are eating a well balanced meal and not eating a lot of sweets, and are taking your baby for walks (I preferred using a front carrier to pushing a stroller when my babies were first born) you should drop the weight without too much trouble.

You can start doing abdominal exercises as soon as your doc has given you the OK. If you had a vaginal delivery, don't forget those Keegles!

Congratulations, and have fun with that baby!

You will loose about 18 lbs. after the baby is born, the rest will start to drop off as you get back into your normal eating and exercise routine. If you gain much more then ideal during your pregnancy, extra exercise will help tone you up. And believe me, caring for your baby, caring them around, waking up constantly, all that is exercise. It usually takes close to a year to get back the way you were.

I had a baby 8 months ago, and am now almost back to my pre-pregnancy weight. When you have a baby, things get busy and chaotic, and it's important to eat healthy and not just grab junk food, especially if you're breast feeding. I make sure to drink plenty of water, and go for walks, and to the gym. It's amazing how much weight you can lose by just eating healthy, and exercising! Breast feeding also helps you lose weight, it's a natural mechanism for weight loss!

If you are breastfeeding, your body needs more fat than it normally does. Wait until you are finished breastfeeding to lower your calories. Your body has been storing extra energy for the extra life it's now supporting. Other people will give you tips about losing weight, but I wanted to remind you why the extra weight is there so that you and your baby will stay healthy.
Good luck.
I think new mothers are really beautiful.

Excercise and Eat Right... that's the ONLY way to lose weight properly and healthy... ESPECIALLY if you're breastfeeding still.
