The fact of the matter is that the world progressed more during the 900 years preceding the fall of Rome than it did during the 900 years after the Fall. and the reason was that Christianity had not had time to effect it's anti- intellectual bias on the Western world .When Christianity did finally flex it's muscle the Dark Ages were the result
The Greeks bi-sexuality did in no way hinder their incredible accomplishments. It may very well be that there a direct correlation between sexual freedom ,intellectual freedom and artistic freedom, when one increases they all increase and when one decrease the rest follow suit.
The fact of the matter is that the world the West lives in was designed by the Greeks and copied by many others.
The greatest book ever written was written by Homer not Matthew ,Mark Luke And John .
You may not agree with the sexual aspects of Greek Civilization
but you cannot honestly deny their greatness

If you are a biggot, Yes.
The greeks did a lot for modern living. It should be noted that someone's sexual preference does not characterize usefulness of historical contribution, just like if an artist is gay or straight... does not influence my decision to appreciate their work.
Your question is very one-sided. If you are against bi-sexuality, that's fine, but what does bi-sexuality have to do with historical contribution?
The Greeks were very modern thinkers... very ahead of their time.
By the way, bisexuality was permitted as long as the males took wives and produced children. They thought that bisexuality was a natural stage of masculine development.
Think of it this way... if you like Gyros, are you gonna stop eating Gyros because it came from a culture where bi-sexuality was socially acceptable? It was also socially acceptable for Greecians to have prostitution among males and females alike, and the males had to be adolescent males no less.
Societies norms and values differ from place to place and in different points in time.

Why would sexual orientation taint any society? By that token, 2000 years from now someone may ask, "Since men kept women as property or treated them as second class citizens, doesn't this taint all men?"
Sexual orientation, gender, race, stature have no bearing on society or civilization as a whole. Society and civilization are more than the prejudice and/or bigotry of the day.

First, it is impossible we would have to go back to a pre-2500 BC way of thinking and way of life. We would have to forget about lots of the basic tools of carpentry, weaving, drafting and must basic manufacture we still use on day to day basis, as well as basic concepts on mathematics, geometry, astronomy, philosophy, physics and the arts. We would have to eliminate many words of Greek origin out of our vocabulary (including 'bisexual')
Second, you cannot judge history with a Black / White filter. What might be considered outrageous at one time was perfectly normal at some other. Take slavery for example, doesn't it taint all civilizations? or sweatshops it taints American civilization, should we forget about all things American?

Greeks were not bi-sexual.Most were straight , some were bi ,some were gay ,like everybody else in every race and every time frame in the world.
Just because there is a gay pride day in San Fransisco,it doesn't mean Americans are a gay nation.

Shouldn;t you stop criticising Greeks??? What do you think? Greeks had a great past and anything they made was made in perfection when your cilivization had not been discovered yet. English were homosexual and of course many American leaders. You should worry because you might be a homosexual. And for the one who said that the Spartians were obliged to have a boyfriend, he should't say such lies.

Let's see, the Greeks gave the world mathematics, modern construction techniques, language, art, democracy, science, trial by jury, the free market economic system, philosophy... just to name a few.
Yes, I think we should care.
And I find your question to be narrow-minded and homophobic. Shame on you.

Forget the Greek culture and we go back to an ancient culture.
Forget the Roman culture (where men liked their boys for pleasure) and you loose what became your Christian church. Ummmmmmm-that might not be so bad.
Forget your Muslim culture and we loose so much philosophy, mathematics, astronomy, and ------------.
Why not just let's all go back to the dark ages?

Just because you do not agree with someones life choices doesn't mean that everything they did is wrong. Look at life around you now. No one is perfect, except the good Lord, himself. We all make mistakes, but don't judge people by the mistakes. Just look at what was learned from them.
