I don't think everyone hates the man, but those who disagree with him are more numerous and louder than in the past. As far as those who voted for him now engaged in verbal assaults, I think a good portion of the voting public has a limited knowledge of the issues and a short attention span. This is exploited by the media which give us sound-bite news stories delivered by pretty-boy and pretty-girl talking heads, not real journalists.

As a result our democracy is more of a beauty contest or a popularity contest than a real, informed debate of the issues.

Our current situation is a result of people coming into power who were experts at putting forth a shiny, salable image, but had little horsepower under the hood when it came down to working policy.

Most people who speak out against him did not vote for him. In fact, most did not vote at all. It's easy to lay blame but the blame truly is placed on their heads. I voted therefore I have the right to say Bush is an idiot who has lead the world into what will more than likely become World War 3.

Well I can't answer for anyone but myself (no, I did not vote for him - and you'll remember that in the first election, he did not win the popular vote) I can speak as the wife of a man who was planning on retiring his commission this month. He served 3 years active duty. He is not in the Guard or Reserve and our family receives no money or benefits. He was on Basketball scholarship and so never receive any type of ROTC money. He joined up because wanted to serve his country, and he did. We’ve just been put on notice that instead of being allowed to finally “officially” resign, they have moved him to active reserve and extended his time to late 2007 - the first step towards actual deployment. My husband proudly served his country and continues to do so as a law enforcement officer. (We’ve only recently made progress with the night sweats and nightmares that he continues to have from his active military days) Don’t we have enough problems AT HOME that we need to address rather than trying to fix everyone else’s? Policy won’t change until two pair of boots hit the ground – Jenna’s and Barbara’s.

This could be a very long list, but since this question is posted in the philosophy section, I will stick to just a couple of basic philosophical points. Not everyone hates Bush, but a lot of people hate the fact that he is president. The people most likely to hate him are intellectuals because, frankly, G.W. Bush is not very smart, and this is hurting both America, and the world. One example: since he is unable to grasp the scientific issues involved in various sorts of environmental damage, he mostly just ignores these issues. This sort of ignorance may be blissful for him, but it will be hellish for humanity in the future. Another example: His ignorance of philosophical issues involved in ethics leads him to support absurdly simplistic views on such matters as stem cell research, gay marriage, abortion, the teaching of evolution/creation in schools, etc. By the way, just for fun, you might want to make a list of all of the Nobel Launderettes who favored Bush (none) and those who spoke out against him (practically all of them) in the last election. This is a pretty good gauge of the intellectual divide between Bush and the science community. Most philosophers tend to be horrified by his presidency as well.

And by the way, MOST American did NOT vote for Bush, so since we have free speech, it should not be surprising that a lot of people speak out against him – especially now that he has proven to be even more foolish and dangerous that we initially feared. The only reason he is president is that he had a famous dad (so it was easier to get him elected), and conservatives threw all of their money and power into getting him elected at all costs.

Now if you happen to like Bush, then I’m sorry if you find anything I’ve said to be offensive, but since you asked the question: I decided to provide these basic reasons that a lot of people hate him.

I didn't vote for him, in either election. He's led us into a war in the name of security and in search of WMDs. We have found no WMDs, and I don't know about you, but I certainly don't feel any safer. Our country has dumped BILLIONS into this war, and things have only gotten worse. The trade deficit continues to grow out of control. The dollar continues to sag. Bush continues to give the finger to the Geneva Convention, and the UN. The No Child Left Behind program is a joke. I can't imagine why his approval rating is in the garbage?! At least we all got a tax cut, right?

I did not vote for him and i hate him. Don't you see what he is doing? open your eyes! wake up and smell the coffee!

He is bin ladin's buddy too. Before sept 11 happend he knew about it and did nothing and he protected the bin ladin's family and put them on a private jet and sent them away. he is just plain stupid! stupid! stupid! Money is power and that's why he is the president...

State and religion should not be put in the same sentence.

Religion is evil and he is a christian and he got the christians to vote for him by being manipulative..it goes on and on...and it's a long story!
He is not only stupid, He has no sense of reasoning and he is spoon fed all the time. He has no leadership qualities..look at his daghters..bunch of silly school girl attitudes for grown up college grads...

Is that what you call a leader? I cannot get into this discussion as it makes me sick!

to keep it simple, because he promised something before the election and delivered nothing after it. not to mention all the lies told to all the americans not only liberals or conservatives but all the people who have no political agenda, just thought that this guy was capable of doing something and turns out that they were wrong. i think that im more disappointed than mad or angry. i do not hate bush just his politics

Not everyone does. I don't hate him, as much as you can hate a spoiled brat that has never had to take responsibility for his actions during th ecourse of his life and his now part of a group that is completely wrecking the ideals of our great nation.

Stop watching TV. Not everybody hates Bush. Always keep in mind that the liberal media falsely represents how the majority of this country feels about things.
