This just in: California bans holding cell phones while driving. Why hasn't this been adopted everywhere? For an investment of about ten dollars in a headset or a phone cradle, people can talk on their phones and drive normally. The world is a much safer place when common sense is utilized. What do you think? And why wouldn't intelligent people use a headset or cradle voluntarily?

Florida had also adopted that law, thank goodness! But I was also told that in Florida if you wreck and you're on your phone, you get charged regardless if it was your fault or not!

They have that law in New York as well. I think it is a good idea. With the blue tooth technologies it is not necessary to be holding a cell phone. Plus people drive like complete idiots when they are talking on the phone. It is pathetic.

For Ceri L. It is not illegal everywhere. It isn't where I live in Michigan I know that. I saw a cop on his cell phone driving the other day. lol

I think even by using a headset it's still considered not keeping your mind on what you are doing while driving. I know I never talk on the phone and drive. I have enough to worry with yelling at the kids.

i think that whether you're holding it or have it in a cradle, your attention is still distracted from where it should be...the road. a conversation takes many ups and downs and does demand a certain amount of attention no matter what. most people are easily distracted when driving anyway. in my opinion it should be against the law to drive and talk on the phone period. i'd like to know that the person beside, behind or in front of me is totally aware of his surroundings and not arguing with sassy susie or nasty bob on the other end of their phone.

Every time I see someone do something stupid on the road, I look up at them and see they are holding a cell phone. Honestly, why wouldn't you use an earpiece just for your own safety, if not for others.
