Per MLA how do you cite an article cited in an article. The author used a cited quote as his papers claim.?

I don't know how to cite the quote...do I cite it from the original article (as cited in MY authors work) or from my authors work....or both?

If what you quote or paraphrase is itself a quotation (i.e. the source you are citing quoted a secondary source, and you are citing that), cite it in-text using "qtd in.", as in:

...and so-and-so stated "the chicken came before the egg" (qtd. in [Author] [Page]).

Do not include an entry in your Works Cited list for the secondary source, but you can document the original source in a content note if necessary. See sections 6.4.7 and 6.5.1 of the MLA Handbook for more details.
