Not as long as you lick them before you shake hands with someone other than yourself or your spouse or your innocent young daughter.

It is not that you have any urine on your hands, in fact urine is very sterile when it first comes out of the body. It has gone through the body and the kidneys and liver have clean all the imperatives out of it. Urine contains mostly water with some ammonia. It can be a great wash for minor scrapes and cuts if applied to them as you urinate. The problem arises once your urine makes contact with air or the outside world. Your body is excreting sweat all the time to cool your body. There are lots of germs on your body and the wet moist area of your genital area is a breeding ground for all this bacteria. So you see, when you touch your penis by holding it, it is not really the fact you may urinate on your hands, which
happens occasionally, it is that your hands have picked up the bacteria on your genitals and this is what you are washing off after you pee.

Urine being sterile can quickly pick up bacteria and that bacteria gen quickly generates itself to spreading germ and unsafe conditions.

The most part of people think it's important to wash hands after having a piss. Assuming that our body generally is cleaner than our hands, then it should just be more important to wash the hands before they size the penis even!
Normally on the hands there are hundreds of bacterium and virus.

Urine does not contain bacteria, unless you have a bladder or urinary infection; so that isn't a concern. However, there is microscopic splashing from a urinal or toilet that does place a bacterial mist on your hands (and genitals). The bathroom door and sinks also may contain bacteria such as E-Coli.

It is a wise precaution to wash, and to use a paper towel - you can use the towel to open the door of the public restroom, so you don't re-infect yourself with bacteria left behind by those that DON'T wash their hands.

Tell you what, how would you feel if your GP didn't wash his/her hands after going for a pee then examined you?
Or if you found out that the waiter/ess serving you your meal in a restaurant hadn't washed their hands before serving you?
Or if a person shaking hands with you had assisted someone else to pee without washing their hands?
What about the person who has used the loo before you, where have they had their hands and you have touched the same door handle/flush/seat as them?
Something to think about eh?

Well, yes and no.

Unless you have an infection your urine is sterile. However, no telling what is on the bathroom door knob or toilet handle you just touched.

Bottom line: frequent hand washing is an excellent way to keep down the spread of illness to you as well as others. Regardless of whether you "get any on you" while relieving yourself, it is a good reminder to wash your hands. They probably need in anyway.

For sure it does matter. The whole of the genital area is a very warm place and due to your sweat it is almost always damp. Ideal conditions which allows all kinds of bacteria to grow. The slightest droplet of urine which you may not be aware of on your hand can, because of the very fast growth rate, allow millions of bacteria to grow in a very short time.
Also actually holding yourself transfers all sorts of bacteria to your hands due to the bacteria that is growing there all of the time.
When you go to the toilet and do not wash afterwards you transfer the nasties to the door knob or handle and to everything you touch from then on.

It is not your pee or your penis that is usually the problem. It is the nasty handles on the urinal, and the door. Always wash. For some reason, I see more guys wash after a pee than if they take a dump. GROSS! In my office, the same guys that would use soap and water after a pee would take a dump, then walk right out! E-COLI! Read the headlines.

Yes it matters, first of all you should be washing your hands before you touch your penis since you have thousands of millions of bacteria and virus's that you have picked up on your journey through the daily habitrail of life, buses, doorknobs, handrails etc.... Washing before you take a leak keeps your member a lot more germ free, and it's social courtesy to wash your hands after touching your manliness.
