FOX News, and the whole FOX broadcasting network, is notoriously right-wing. Even their own reporters have been known to admit that they're biased live on television, and not appologise for it, even though a news reporter is meant to be unbiased at all times. The BBC are a bit of a yoyo when it comes to which side of the fence they sit on. They try to appease as many groups as possible while at the same time attempting to maintain the general moral high ground. This means that they're usually very selective about what they do and don't allow to be broadcast/said.

I watched the BBC and Fox news here in New Zealand during the New Orleans hurricane flooding, the BBC and most other news channels reported a slow response to the disaster and the outrage of the residents, when I switched on Fox though it was 'here comes the cavalry' and 'we are so happy with the government for helping us'.
To be fair, I enjoy watching Fox news occaisionally, but I regard it as entertainment rather than journalism.
If they say Fair and Balanced enough times it must be true ;)

I never really understood why they call is Fox "News". What is news about it? The other media outlets that are not as blatantly complacent like Fox "News" are a disgrace for reporters and journalists they dreamed being when they were young and full of idealism. Reporters and journalists have a duty, a nearly sacred duty, to inform the public about things going on in the world AND FOREMOST protect the public from politicians gone out of control. They have the duty to ask the tough questions while they are privy to access to politicians.
Now i ask: "Do you feel that the journalists ask the tough questions and give the politicians hell about their actions or are they just a complacent conveyor of whatever the politicians tell them?"
Where are the investigative reporters that dig up the dirt?

The news media has gotten out of control. They are partly to blame for the problems we see in the world today. They love it when Al qaida puts out a new video. They play right into the hands of the terrorists. Well so does Bush, he is so stupid it is really embarrassing for most Americans who have half a brain. We maybe the richest country in the world but that doesn't make us the brightest of the bunch!
Oh and Bill O`Riley is a moron. Half the time he doesn't even know what the hell he's talking about. It's hard to believe they gave this idiot his own show.

No... because Bill O'Riley actually doesn't agree with the President a lot. It's true, I've heard the guy talk against the President. Mind you, he's still very conservative. But he's definitely not the voice of Bush.
Yeah, you're right about if anyone puts down Bush.. except it someone does they're a terrorist! Used to be that you'd be a communist. Oh well, life goes on.
Screw George Bush
Screw Terrorists

You know, a friend of mine once said that Fox News appears to be so "right wing" because all of the other news chanels are so left wing. It might very well be "fair and balanced" - but just appear to be "right wing" when compared to the other networks.
As for Bill O'Reilly - he's neither Republican nor Democrat. I could say that he's more Libertarian - but actually, I think he's more "Bill O'Reilly" and does stuff that he thinks will make him look good.
In my opinion, he's has the same problem that Rush Limbaugh does - he takes himself way, way too serious.
As for other networks - how often do you see them have somebody on both sides of an issue on the air at the same time?

I've always disliked Fox News. I laugh everytime the ad comes on and that voice says: "Fair and Balanced." Not that I trust MSNBC or CNN. I think all news shows are biased in one direction or another.
Someone from Ireland told me that we don't have any clue as Americans what goes on in the world because we get sham news. I'm thinking perhaps she is not totally incorrect. I'm so sick of hearing about filth like Britney Spears and Brangelina. I'd rather hear real news.

O'Reilly is very often critical of the Bush administration. Maybe you don't watch often enough.
He always has opposing points of view, although as you say, it too often becomes an overly spirited debate that becomes non-productive.
The folks who complain about Fox News are often the ones who believe CNN is fair and balanced. It isn't. It's all a matter of personal perspective.

The people at Fox go to great lengths to avoid covering stories that aren't beneficial to the RightColumnFascists.
Billo has been known to go so far as to defend the Nazi's as an example of justifying the Bush administration's lack of respect for the Constitution and our country.
Stick with MSNBC and Keith Olberman. Not only does he get the story out there, but he does it with humor.

I'm a brit too but what i've seen of FOX its a joke. They aren't a credible news broadcaster. I disagree with the comment on the BBC though, i think in this particular case they are trying to make it appear they are equal because muslims complain the BBC is unequal towards them. As a result they have over compensated.
