I am 26, a single guy and have an option to move to Vegas, I am going to be making decent money for an engineering firm which is located like 10 minutes from the strip.
help me decide
the good
1) I would love to sow my wild oats as I dont think I would be single for long, I know a lot of women come to Vegas to get laid..unless this is an urban myth
2) The projects i am going to be taking up are going to be unique
3) the weather
the bad:
1) super high crime rate, cant live anywhere close to the strip
2) high vehicle insurance

Also a couple of things i wanted to get clarification upon from long time residents:
1) are there nice lounges near thestrip where women are plenty and do not have expensive cover charges?
2) Do guys take their vehicles when they go to the strip, do you encounter parking problems, is it safe?
3) If you rent/live in Henderson which is a nicer part of town would logistics let you go to the strip to pick up women
any experiences, please share thnks

also,
I did forget to mention that I have no gambling problems, so me wasting money at the casinos is not an issue, I would never do that.

how much of a drive is it from henderson to the strip..I see myself as a social person and would go there often, so I am wondering how much I need to save to party more often.
are there any other closer places than Henderson which would have a lowcrime rate, from my research I know the north is supposed to be bad, I appreciate your answers thanks a lot for reading

I live in Henderson, as far as picking up women I cant answer that, I'm married. If your going to go to the strip and have a good time, I wouldn't recommend taking your car. Your better off taking a cab to and from the strip. You can find plenty of lounges on the strip that don't have cover charges. Try to find a place in Henderson, super low crime rate. One more thing, insurance isn't actually that bad if your 25 or older. I have full coverage with $100 deductible with farmers and I only pay $160 a month and I have a 2005 altima. Shop around and do your research very carefully before making the decision to move to Vegas. If you need any other info let me know, I'll try my best to answer any more questions you might have.

Though not a resident, I can at least answer the part about taking your vehicle to the strip. During the weekends, the strip is so crowded that you'll be hard pressed to go anywhere if you're driving. It would be better to walk the strip during the weekend. As for the weekdays, the traffic and crowds are far smaller, so it's easier to get around.

One word of caution, Las Vegas has a very high suicide rate. Reason being is that many people move there expecting the best, mainly in the areas of finance. Casinos are very good at separating people from their money in the form of gambling, and those that attempt to improve their finances through gambling often find themselves worse off than before. As a result, many take their own lives when they reach a certain level of desperation.

There are plenty of other places to go to then just the strip. There is red rock casino which is a new casino and it way on the west side of town. there is also sun coast and summerlin casino in summerlin. There are a bunch of casinos you can go to besides the strip. I don't like to take my car to the strip just because the traffic is horrible. But really nothing else is bad. They have well lighted casino parking and cameras everywhere. I wouldn't want to live in henderson I would much rather live in summerlin. Summerlin has more cash flow and is a bit nicer. Vegas does get cold about 2 months out of the year. (jacket weather) but its nice. Just live close to a major freeway and it will only take you about 45 minutes to get to the strip.

The thing you need clarication on is not on your clarification list.

The purpose of being young and single is not to "sow your wild oats," but rather to build respect and character and to become the type of man a woman should marry. It does not involve hunting down women like game, to use them for your selfish gratification.

It sounds like you've done great in the career department, but have failed to understand some important things beyond that, with all due respect.

I say this even as a Las Vegas local, believe it or not.

This will just answer a small part of your question - it seemed

like the women there were very "money hungry." They were

very superficial - only after money. They're probably not all

like that.

As far a parking goes, you only have to tip the valet; I don't think

they charge to park. It is worth it - not paying for a cab or else

a super crowded bus, or walking your legs off.

Non resident but I would suggest you also look into Boulder City. Bit of a haul to get to and from work but its out of "the city" and very peaceful.
