I want to have an auction website. I have seen many sites selling ready made websites on the net, which are fully programmed etc. Is it possible to change and add graphics and other designs on a ready bought website? and to what extent? I mean does programming get in the way of the "look" of the website?

I would suggest a php script for the auction site along with your own design for the feel of the site. If you start small there are some really neat auction scripts for free. Some of the larger ones can cost a pretty penny. Try http://www.hotscripts.com

You choose which style you want and you add your own content mostly. This is what usually happens, although you might not be able to.
