...of Manuel II Paleologo to be not far from the truth by their violent reactions to it? Just one case in point. The execution of a nun at the Somali hospital in Nairobi, Kenya?

To suspendor: I agree. The violent nature of this religion doesn't seem to have changed in thousands of years. This is the 21st century we are in. They seem to still be somewhere in the 16th century.

To the person who contacted me by email, perhaps you should make ENGLISH your third language. And BTW, my mention of living in the 16th century has nothing to do with a house but an ideology.

Yes. And it's funny to watch them backpedal here at Answers as they try to distance themselves from their violent bretheren.

Despite I'm Muslim, and I'm proud of that.. I agree with you, instead of showing forgiveness; many Muslims are today the sign of "Violence". Islam is ashamed of them.
The Qur'an contains both injunctions to respect other religions, and to fight and subdue unbelievers during war. Some Muslims have respected Jews and Christians as fellow people of the book (monotheists following Abrahamic religions), while others have reviled them as having abandoned monotheism and corrupted their scriptures. At different times and places, Islamic communities have been both intolerant and tolerant. Support can be found in the Qur'an for both attitudes.
The classical Islamic solution was of great tolerance — Jews and Christians were to be allowed to privately practice their faith and follow their own family law under the Islamic protection for a payment of tax which is "a quarter of 1/10". They were called dhimmis "the protected" and paid a special tax called the jizya, since the zakat "charity" paid by Muslims was not compulsory on them. The status of dhimmis is a matter of dispute, with some claiming that dhimmis were persecuted second-class citizens, and others that their lot was not difficult.
The medieval Islamic state was often more tolerant than many other states of the time which insisted on complete conformity to a state religion. The record of contemporary Muslim-majority states is mixed. Some are generally regarded as tolerant, while others have been accused of intolerance and human rights violations; which is de facto, not true. I think we all know The Closed mind of The Arabian cultures.. it is really strange that a religion could contain them, prevent them from slavery, alcohol addiction, incest, murders and so.. such religion must be considered as a History changer.. but Muslims deviated far away from its rules and they are now paying for it. Islam provides for the respect of Jesus and Mary and believing in what they came with.. Love, respcet for each other, honor, commitment...

Historically, the Catholic church has been every bit as violent as any other religion. Neither the Pope, nor Manuel II have any right to make such a statement. I am sure the Cathars and Knights Templar (to name just two groups deliberately exterminated by the Church) would like to be able to say something about that. Every religion has extremists - does the whole religion then suffer for that? Further - what is the difference between executing a nun and sexually abusing small boys? Each alters life. Violence is violence.

Do you know who Manuel II Paleologo was?
Do you know what happened to the Byzantine Empire in 1453 while the Pope just sat there and did nothing?
The Pope wants to remind America and the Greek American political lobby to not entertain notions of restoring the Byzantine Empire or even an Americanized form of the Ottoman Empire.

Yes, In its stupidity, the 'islamic world' has proven itself to be totally barbaric and completely in line with the Pope's recent comments... and cue, the demonstrations, riot, blowing sh*t up and killing infidels... and action ! This was hardly a surprising reaction for such a backward religion.
" Muhammad had brought the world only "evil and inhuman"
Islam has just proven that to be true... again
well done muslims, the war on islam / terrors continues ...

It was a genius bit of accidental anit-Muslim propadanda. Even if that wasn't the intent.
It did in fact prove the point, which is unfortunate for all the moderate Muslims...
