A 'go' route is almost always a fly pattern or 'straight down the field'. The term is most commonly used in audibles. Typically, after breaking the huddle, the receiver takes his position with a certain route to run for the particular play call. If an audible is called, that receiver, based on what the defense is showing him, may be required to change his previously assigned route to a 'go' route.

It's a route where the receiver just "goes," or sprints right off the line. They sometimes call it a fly route, too, although a fly route isn't always necessarily straight. A go route usually involves the receiver going in a straight line down the field, and the QB trying to hit him in stride.

Michigan ran this play well with Mattingham (sp?) against Notre Dame on Saturday.

A.K.A. Fly route. Receiver runs a straight line down the feild. Good against man coverage. Usually a big gainer if successful.

And Michigans receivers name is Manningham.
