My pig has overgrown hoofs and has difficulty walking. I want to trim them but am afraid of hurting her. Any reference sites, precautions or other info would be appreciated.

have a professional do this.... I trimmed our sheeps hooves and I can tell you its not easy but they were not as bad as your pig who, if he/she is haveing difficulty walking, needs professional help.. call a horse farrier and ask them or call a vet to see who else will do it in your area...

its easy to make them bleed which is very scarey

I would guess you would trim them back just like a horses. They have tack for that. But formost I would check out with a country vet. Or a web site for taking care of live stock about pigs.

I'm not sure, but we don't have our pigs' feet trimmed. They are two pet kune kune pigs, and they spend most of the summer living in our huge, but enclosed, valley. Never trimmed their feet.
