This was a very last minute trip. Would have like to research it in more depth, but unfortunately, I couldn't. Planning on theatre evenings and day trips..etc...:) thanks for any suggestions!

Too much?! Are you kidding?! Not enough! You'll have plenty to do, and there's always day trips to the beautiful English countryside if you tire of the city.

Why would you book a trip like that without even researching what you want to do? I sure hope you aren't going to waste your money for lack of diligence and excitement.

Have fun at any rate.

6 days would be too short! Since you have a long flight, take a guide book on the plane. You'll have plenty of time to do research. Frommers or Lonely Planet are good. Day trips are great but should have plenty to do in London for 6 days. Take a bus tour of the city as you'll get to see a lot and you can get on and off and they tell you interesting stories about London. It's very expensive so a guide book should have some good advice about where to eat.

Whenever I go to London, which is about every 3 years, I stay for 3 weeks. I make my base in the West End, and do day trips by Brit Rail every other day. There are many places that are easily reached by train. That way I get to enjoy so much more of the country without having to pack my stuff up and move from hotel to hotel every few days.

You will have NO problems whatsoever filling your time, just staying in London itself! So many things to do, see, experience. I would say that 6 days is an absolute minimum!

I like to go to the theater every evening, so always stay at a hotel that is walking distance to the theater district. It sure saves on cab fares! Speaking of saving money, if you like the theater, DO check out the half-price ticket booth in Leister Square. Do NOT buy tickets from the dozens of brokers that have little store fronts. They are a rip-off. The half-price booth is official.

6 days is fine but you'll wish you had more time. The tower of London is 15 pounds get there early -spend at least 4 hours and then take a cruise back to the london eye, the parliment buildings and big ben from there you can walk to Nelson's column, St. James park and Buckingham palace. Go to the british museum several times to see most of what you want to see, same with the national portrait gallery. Go to Harrods and get something to eat in the food market.
Go to any Sainbury's and get the 3 indian chicken sandwiches (I MISS them !)

For day trips go to Stonehenge, but don't waste your money or time on Bath. Oxford and Stratford -upon- Avon are worth it and if you want to go further go to the Lakes District or the Cotswolds both are stunning

We went to London back in 1999, we went to several Cathedrals, we were in London for 10 days, we also went to the British Museum, took Cabs to different places, went to a cemetery, there is alot of history in London. We went to different restaurants, too, that the hotel we stayed at suggested. Have a good time.

It's not too much, but if you do want a change of scenery, Brighton or Cambridge would make good day trips.
