Yes, the Pope is German and is the second non-Italian to hold the office in a row, a rare case. Especially considering that John Paul II was the first non-Italian Pope in 450 years.
I recall France being a devout Roman Catholic country - I thought Touzours knew about the Pope's nationality.

This ******* Pope isnt Italian, he is German, and the last one wasnt Italian either, he was Polish. Not sure why someone would assume he is Italian. He should have kept his mouth shut on his latest scandal. He and everyone around him was full aware that there would be controversy because of it. Now he saying he is sorry for the reaction. That is NO apology. Those people have a right to be pissed, but no right to kill someone because of it!

The pope is from Bavaria, Germany. He is formerly Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger and was once the Archbishop of Munich.

No I think the pope said it like it is and that's great.
