Why are Islamic and Muslim people so upset about the remarks of the Pope? How many other religions besides Islam take personal vendetta's towards a comment and use violence as a form of showing their anger or discontent towards a remark? Islam a religion of peace?

it absolutly is NOT a religion of peace , ive read the Koran back wheni was searching for a life path !!! it clearly states that convert by the sword !! ahhhh last time i checked a sword is a weapon use to kill and mame there is alot of things in the koran that is qeastionable if you do read any of it you will notice that the early writings are peaceful then it changes about midway thru islam wishs to dominate the world

No. Religion is doctrine (the Quaran) + Culture and Customs. I have not read the Quaran but I am sure you will get 10x more answers saying you are wrong and stupid and quote passages from the Quaran. The reality is that many Muslims do not act or behave in a peaceful way and are not tolerant. They do not understand why no one else protests, burns things, or bombs things when someone says bad things about the pope or western ideas - but they think it is OK to do that if someone says something bad about them. Many will tell you that those are only extremists who do crazy things to everyone (liek the terrorosts) but you will never see the Muslims protesting against terrorists - why is that? They are either afraid of them or agree with them. The religion of peace is definately not Islam but it is possibly the religion of intolerance.

I didn't read all of the Pope's comments, but what I heard did sound somewhat provocative. He said he wanted to start a dialog, but he should have known there would have been a reaction.
But violently protesting his statement regarding Islam and violence kind of proves the point, no?
I do hope there are Muslim "reformers" who cleanse Islam of its radical elements. I really don't want to believe that the religion as a whole is violent. I hope it's just a relatively few "bad apples," like other religions (or groups of people in general) have.

We all know it is NOT...its no longer worth debating BUT heres a message to those followers of ISLAM who try and blame the Muslim inspired violence in the world on extremists who pervert its message ... STOP! Its not enough...you "moderate" Muslims need to actually DO something tangible to stop your fellow Islamists from all this murder and senseless killing. Instead of raging at the Pope, rage at your OWN people. Then maybe you will get some sympathy. Go on...be effective.

Somewhere along the way, muzzy leaders figured out that the best way to get LOTS of press coverage in the West was to riot. They feel more influential that way.

"Exempt those who join a people with whom you have concluded a peace treaty, and those who come to you with hearts unwilling to fight you, nor to fight their relatives. Had God willed, he could have placed them in power over you and they would have made war on you. Therefore, if they leave you alone, refrain from fighting you, and offer you peace, then God gives you no way to go against them." (4:90)

i doubt it. So far it's proven not a religion of peace, coz the believers is reflection of their religion, and with so many things happened in this world (which i dont need to mention), how can you say it is?? Moslems gotta work together to make the impression of a religion of peace.

By most of it's followers yes it is. Unfortunately for them the media covers the story, which is violence. They don't cover a person who takes no offense.
