And thats how he said it - im confused, he normally just says "im off, laters" lol. He doesnt seem like the type to say something like that to anyone at all, and note how he just rambled on! So whats going on?

I think your friend has feelings for you. He might not want to show you or tell you properly because he knows you arent single, thats why he rambled on.
Confront him about it, tell him that you only want to be friends (if thats all) and if he starts to joke about it while you are asking then just joke around also.
If you have started to feel for him then consider the situation that you are in and try not to make the wrong choice

This means that he is a loser and he takes you for granted. He is prob talking to some other chick! You should be the center of his world and he is treating u horrible. I wouldn't put up with that sh*t! I say u should really piss him off and get you a girlfriend! Hell yeah, thats what I would do!!

R u sure he was Iming you the whole time? Maybe he typed in your window by accident. If he was talking to you it sounds like he likes you but something is stopping him from acting on it.

If you like him back, you can fulfill his hearts desires. If you don't, then you can tell him you don't like him like that and that you can't be friends. Because he's better off without you than with you as a friend when he wants more.

Maybe it was a g/f or wife using his account to see what he is doing online. People will sometimes snoop to see if their partner is cheating or doing things they shouldn't be and they may write things to see what your response to it is. Next time you talk to him, just ask him what he meant by his comment.

maybe he was having a conversation with you and another person at the same time, and it was actually meant for the other person. It does sound as if he is replying to questions i.e. "if i could" "doesn't matter" etc.

Maybe he likes you, but he isn't sure if he wants to tell you that because you're close friends.
