Putting powder and diapers on them is BAD. Powder has little cornstarch demons inside of it that are activated upon shaking and once on the baby's skin, they will lift the baby up, and fly away with it like the gargoyle monkey critters on the Wizard of Oz.
Diapers have been proven to cause babies to sprout tails from their tailbones. So be sure to allow your baby to roam diaper free and if they poop everywhere, it's only because you SUCK as a parent, and you aren't in tune with their "cues" for poop and pee. Babies and cats both can use the toilet, and if they are not, well, you are obviously BAD.

I find it rather ironic that 30 years ago, or shoot, 20 years ago, it was ok to ride around in the car without a seatbelt, it was ok to ride in the back of a pickup truck, it was ok to be out in the sun at the beach without sunscreen, it was ok to put diapers on your kids, it was ok to use baby powder, it was ok to do a whole lot of things. Now, and I have no idea who, but someone has decided for us what we can and can't do. They way I see it, were all going to die sometime in our life, so you might as well freaking enjoy your life and do whatever the heck you wanna do (within legal limits). EVERYTHING causes cancer anymore. From the sun, to microwaves to the dag um food you eat. You can't win for losing so stop even trying. Just keep in mind that the average life expectancy today is around 76-78 years old, where as 100 years ago it was only 38. Now that is an improvement and thats saying something, so it can't be all bad. Just enjoy life and stop worrying about what everyone says about all this crap being bad for ya. Everything is bad for you.

I agree with tay_jen1 and Sandi A. I work at a daycare with newborns to about 18 months, it is psychotic sometimes what new parents think about. I have a 9 month old and I hope I wasn't that psycho. This is a few things that have happened to me in the past year, parents using purified water, or only giving their babies "fresh" formula (No putting it in the refridgerator and saving it for later, this from a mother of three). Parents freaking out because their kids won't eat for one hour. Freaking out because they get dirty playing outside (they are children). Getting mad because their kid, who they sent in a white polo shirt, got dirty. Getting mad because their kid has the sniffles. A few years ago it was okay to let them sleep on their stomach now it's BAD because they could get a mysterious disease (I'm not saying SIDS is not a serious thing, it is but it's not the only cause of it) but letting babies sleep in their cribs with bottles in their mouth is okay, although it's been proven to show tooth decay. It's okay to let a baby be doped up on medication (Tyneaol, Gas Tablets, Teething Tablets etc..) but age-old rememdies are BAD. It's ricdulous the amount of **** that is given to new parents, no wonder so many parents are psycho.

i'm assuming you're joking. cause talc can choke a baby when inhaled and diapers i suppose you are referring to them being bad for the environment. other than that i'm sure in 1960 there was a woman just like you (probably your mother) who posted a letter to ann landers (cause there was no yahooanswers lol) and said the following,"well parents of babies, have you heard the latest things that make us bad?? apparently giving castor oil to our babies is not a cure for colic!gee it always makes my kids stop crying and pass out for hours on end. and putting vaseline on their fingers so they'll stop sucking them is apparently dangerous..ooo someone call the vaseline police! and now we're told giving cows milk to a newborn is gonna make them mooooo.ahahahahahahahhaa." (that was from the archives of ann landers circa 1960.) by the way when you cry do you take a spoonful of castor oil?? lol (i too am joking, see if you can take one just as good as give one)

lol... funny how for centuries babies and kids have been perfectly fine playing in the mud, eating sweets and chocolate, wearing diapers, playing in the sun... the list is endless. Now all of a sudden all these things are deadly.. puhlease!

It is not cornstarch that is bad, it is talc, and it has been shown in repeated medical studies, that using talc powder on baby girls significantly increases their chance of developing ovarian cancer later in life. But it is your child to do with what you will.
Chill........

I find it amazing how much you're able to reinterpret simple statements of fact as attacks on you and your parenting. "I breastfed my baby for 16 months" suddenly becomes "...and formula feeders like you are bad, abusive moms!". "I love cloth diapers" becomes "...why don't you do them to, you lazy *****?" "Elimination Communication is wonderful!" becomes "...and you're a terrible, neglectful mother if you don't do it!"
Me, I'm not quite so insecure in my parenting as to assume that any choice anyone makes different from me means that my choice was wrong.
