It's more than just one printer I am having problems with

Most printers I have ever owned require you to install the drivers FIRST. Then you can plug in your printer. Since you are having this trouble with more than one printer it would be my guess that you either have a bad cable that you are attempting to use or you may have a usb port problem which can be a sign of potential motherboard failure (that happened to me once).

First install the driver, turn on the printer and then plug it into your system and turn it on.

Click "My computer" and you should see your printer listed there. If you do not see it there then navigate to your device manager and see if it is listed under ports... you can also try using a different cable.

Try reinstalling the printer on the PC...also, make sure the cable it hooked up correctly and the printer is on.

right click the document you want to print-click print-make sure that it the check box for print to file is unchecked-if it is an image make sure you check print to image-
is there any other message with error

try switching your printer cable if the old one doesn't work.
