depending on why the transfusions were needed then yes supplements would be prescribed. If you were in a major accident or had surgery you might require transfusing and small time of supplements. If you have anemia or cancer then you would require longer time of supplements.

Iron supplements or Iron containing natural fruits like apples are good even in normal daily life. Hemoglobin of the blood contains Ferric Oxide. It acts an agent for transporting Oxygen to where it is needed in the body. Thus more hemoglobin in the blood the better it is for an individual.
