I like to change the word "Start" to something else in the start button of the MS windows. How to do it

It can be done of course. But it does get a bit complicated. And it depends on what operating system you are using. XP is probably easier, but even it requires you to edit some sensitive files, and if you mess up, you don't have an operating system any more. So, if you want to learn all about editing HEX files and changing things in the registry, indeed you can.

Remember to BACK UP the registry before you make changes.

Also you will have to boot in safe mode as administrator to make the changes stick.

In windows xp I use windowblinds to "SKIN" my taskbar and windows, when using skins, changing the name of the start button is as easy as manipulating an image file.

if skinning is not your cup of tea then you can also get an answer to almost everything you can think about windows at http://www.annoyances.org they have information on how to customize any version of windows, and make it behave the way you want it to!
