Actually this is a great question......1000 years from now certain things might not be in existance anymore.....it would be a nice idea if people could taste and smell the things we do today.......Imagine if we could smell the air when dinosuars ruled the earth or got to taste wait the do do bird tasted like(although i'm sure it tastes like chicken)lol.
Well, I for one hope that one day that would be possible.....

for a time laser discs had that technology.
it's there.. i'm unsure i thought DVD was going to do that. ??? i think it was from japan (as always!) it would be great and it would also be great for security.
imagine some jerk trying to break into your car and the device in it turns on and the DVD starts up and suddenly the perpetrator is out cold because the "odor selection, security device selection" was set to rotted onions on a decaying corpse in 100 degree temperatures setting.
:D
of course you can turn it off with remote after all is said and done and the police reports have been filed.
it would save up on many aerosols and other pollutants if it was digitized of course.
:D

Honestly, I think that is a very important question. Think of the possibilities you know? "hey jo, want to know what i had for dinner? Smell this" I think that people are trying to learn of new ways to blow each other up, and that they are to occupied of creating new ways of destroying the future, than preserving it.
Something that could store smell and taste, ... possibly not electronically, perhaps condensed. Like micro capsuls that can extract a specific smell. Nothing that i know of however sadly

Well if you store the air that consist of the chemical resulting in the smell... Or you could just store the information of that and recreate the smell when you want it.

Perhaps odors can be stored but Who's taste would be stored? Everyone's taste buds are different.
Great question.

I love this question!
Because i wish you could store someone's scent & always be able to have it.
Like when they die.
Let me elaborate... I miss my grandmother very much & the way she smelled & i wish i had a way to get her scent back if only for one more memory!!!
I love & miss you granny and i wish you were here!!! RIP
