It really depends what music you are into but I would say, one of Jack Johnsons new albums (like the song ''its even better when we're together and the curious george song) its pretty nice and relaxing, otherwise i would say the feeling or the kooks or something like that, maybe James Blunt?... Hope this helped x

Richard Hawley - Coles Corner (bit of a crooner but classy and fun)
Thievery Corporation - The Mirror Conspiracy (electronic, chilled, a bit dubby but not too heavy)
Paul Simon - Paul Simon (maybe a bit old but not dated)
Morcheeba - Big Calm
Zero 7 - Simple Things (both chilled electronic)
Jenny Lewis and the Watson Twins - Rabbit Fur Coat (a bit country - just great)
Christopher O'Riley - True Love Waits: O'Riley Plays Radiohead (Radiohead done as instrumental piano pieces - classy and recognisable)
I usually make a mix CD. If you invite me I'll make one for you too! Enjoy your evening.

I always just stick on a mixed album, either my own mixed cd or just a complilation cd. That way theres bound to be something on it someone likes, plus its a conversation starter if you have a quiet spot, when no ones talking. I find picking odd and obscure oldies, especially if you know the ages of your guests. 80's usually go down well with my friends, or movie soundtracks. If you're having sophisticated guests, who you want to impress, then a bit of classical or opera!

Ronan Keating is always good for dinners. Very easy going music and has a few slightly livlier ones to sing along to when the wine has flowed a little bit.

The Magic Numbers. The best album to chill out to I've found. Nothing to heavy, and great for a backgroud sound :-)

Any album by Enya would be a good pick. I have a couple of her albums..A Day Without Rain and Amerintine, both are excellent and very relaxing.

I like Steely Dan. It's sophisticated, grown up lounge-type music. Perfect for playing in the background. Norah Jones is also nice.
