There are many good communities there, and the building of new homes continues too. I don't have all the details.

I'm more familiar with central New Jersey. Many good communities, near all the major highways. Woodbridge, Metuchen, New Brunswick. But overcrowded. People are generally friendly, but might seem a bit less relaxed and more fast-paced compared to the southeast. Everyone's commuting and has no time, it sometimes seems. People could use some lessons in manners, but I guess you get that everywhere.

I wanted to say that if you are coming from out of state, be warned - it's VERY expensive. Home prices, property taxes, car insurance. Unfortunately, worst in the nation in several cost categories.

On the plus side, gas is a bit cheaper because of several refineries right in the area - yes, the smelly stretch near Newark Airport and the Turnpike that gives NJ its bad name. But most of the state is not like that. Great mountains and beaches! Again, all overcrowded, though.

Also, strangely enough NJ and Oregon are the only states that don't let you pump your own gas. So you NEVER have to get out of your car on a rainy or snowy day to do it - it's always done for you.

Finally, NJ is I think the only state which allows people to hold more than one government office. Many mayors seem to be in the assembly or state senate too. More than our share of corruption!

Good luck. Come on up! We'd love to have you!

Hoboken and Fort Lee are very nice, and very close to Manhattan. However, they can be a bit expensive to live in. The property taxes are high. The neighboring areas like Jersey City and Weehawken are a little cheaper.
